Conference information
The scientific sessions of the fourth international conference on “Advances in Canine and Feline Genomics and Inherited Diseases” will be held from May, Thursday 22nd through Saturday 24th at the Palais du Grand Large (http://www.pgl-congres.com) in Saint Malo, Brittany, France.
The conference will bring together researchers studying the genomes of dogs and cats as well as those studying comparative genomics, hereditary diseases and polymorphic traits.
Dog and cat genomes which have been both recently sequenced offer nowadays a unique opportunity to study the genetic basis of the various morphological but also behavioural traits that characterized the large number of breeds created over the centuries. Additionally, most of the breeds of these two species as a result of the intense inbreeding practise aimed at selecting traits of interest are also unfortunately plagued by many diseases of genetic origin of which several are the counterpart of genetic diseases endured by human. The fragmented structure of the dog and cat populations in many genetic isolates offers specific avenues to study both simple and complex genetic disorders for the sake of our pets but also ourselves.
